GCSE Listening and Appraising - Christmas Special

This resource works as a stand-alone cover lesson and can be delivered by a non-specialist.

It’s a good fit for KS4 students with plenty of analytical listening experience.

The resource is made up of six ‘listening and appraising’ exam style questions, enabling students to continue improving their musical understanding of:

  • dynamics
  • rhythmic devices
  • time signatures
  • structural devices
  • melodic movement, melodic devices, pitch recognition and dictation, melodic intervals, range
  • harmonic language, cadences, chords
  • sonority/timbre, instrumental and vocal groupings, instrumental and vocal roles within an ensemble
  • texture
  • tonality
